With a large family to cater for, the existing dining room of the property had never been quite big enough. Additionally the kitchen was detached from the rest of the property. We were asked to explore how to extend the kitchen to make enough space and then to repurpose the vacated dining room. Demolishing the existing kitchen makes way for a new kitchen/diner which is partially pulled back from the main house to respect its facade.

Set in a conservation area, within an Area of Outstanding National Beauty and an Area of Scientific Special Interest this project could have proved challenging. Adding to this challenge was the fact a scheme by another Architect for the site had recently been refused. Through thoughtful design and our use of Virtual Reality and CGIs as a communication tool, the Local Planning Authority granted approval first time round.
